Gemini Brittany Pledger owns and operates Hunter's Sound Stable, est. 1998.
Brittany is especially gifted when working with children and adult beginners, and training young/green horses, though her subjects have had success at the highest levels of Equitation and Showjumping. She is available for lessons, clinics, and horse show judging.
Relatives describe Brittany as "being born psychologically connected to horses". She began riding as a small child, and has been training horses since the age of 11. She has made it her life's work to study horses and their behaviour; much of her early training was with BLM mustang wild roaming range horses, using horse's own natural behavioral herd instincts. She has rescued, rehabilitated, and retrained hundreds of horses that others might have considered a "lost cause". Her first rescue horse, a thirty year old grade horse named Peaceable, is still thriving at Hunter's Sound Stable today. He has been in Brittany's care since 1989.
Though her concentration is in Hunt Seat Equitation and Showjumping, Brittany is classically trained in Dressage and integrates proper fundamentals into her training regimen. She has studied horsemanship, riding, and training in all disciplines, including carriage driving, which is one of her favorite pastimes. Brittany has competed at national level, and also competed, and won, an International Prix Competition in Loiret, France. Brittany continues riding, teaching, showing, judging, and training but no longer competes in high-jumping competition, due to a spinal cord injury she sustained in 2003 while riding.
Brittany has three sons, all riders, and the family has established a breeding and show program, "Ever After" Welsh Ponies, and are proven producers of Champion Welsh Ponies, Welsh Pony crosses, and world-class Warmblood Sport Horses. These breeding animals are selected for their superior dispositions, trainability, phenomenal movement, and natural aptitude for jumping talent. Brittany's young sons are all talented equestrians and assist with the care, training, riding, and showing of these animals.
Brittany regularly attends clinics with well-known instructors, and trained with former resident trainer and Grand Prix legend, Alain Vaillancourt (2001-2003). Additionally, she has had occasion to receive training from some of the world's greatest equestrians, including chef d'equipe George Morris and Michael Page, USET member Peter Grey, and Show-Jumping Hall of famer Kathy Kusner, among other greats; too numerous to mention.
In 2004, Brittany founded Buckingham Pony Club, Fort Myers local branch of Untied States Pony Clubs, where she served both as Joint District Commissioner and Riding Instructor/ Team Coach. Brittany's son, Jalen, at age four (4) was the youngest Pony Club member to ever compete in a Sunshine State Sponsored Pony Club Rally. In the club's first year alone, six of her students, including her son, James, qualified for Pony Club Nationals, in Showjumping, Tetrathlon, and also in Quiz. Her experience with Pony Club's time honored traditional methods helped her establish her current curriculum for riding instruction. Brittany rides and teaches at Hunter's Sound Stable where she coaches a small, but successful show team at her privately owned riding academy. Many of her students are winning at national level.
